From design to fabrication, Palmer and Sicard utilizes the latest BIM technologies that incorporate the AutoCAD suite in designing a 3D model of our projects. During this process we run clash detection with other building systems utilizing Navis Works. The next step in our process is to provide our fabrication shop with schematic plans called spool drawings. These drawings have a detailed assembly plan for use by our sheet metal and piping fabricators combined with a material list included on the drawing.
During the fabrication process our field personnel are provided with the coordinated drawings to prepare for the installation of the prefabricated systems. We use a GPS based total station to layout the location of hangers, sleeves, trenching and walls during the construction of the facility. Once this phase of construction is completed the fabricated systems are delivered to the job site and installed, tested, and inspected. We address any changes made to the structure during construction by modifying the 3D drawings to provide a record drawing of the installation. This final drawing set can be set up to include system identification, valve and equipment locations and descriptions and can be provided in electronic or print format.
